TRAP can be tailored to large groups in a typical school setting, for folks working with kids at risk, in the hospital rehabilitation program population including stroke, paralysis, and traumatic brain injury as well as organizations that are striving to provide a better life for those with developmental disabilities.
The TRAP program uses a series of guided interactive rhythmic exercises to reinforce rhythmic entrainment, motor skills, concentration, and patience. The program is also a great deal of FUN and provides an involving, creative good time for patients, caregivers, students, and teachers.
The TRAP Percussion Pack is ideal for use in clinical, therapeutic, and classroom settings, and is suitable for people facing a variety of physical and mental challenges. The pack can be used with groups ranging from 20 participants down to one-on-one sessions.
TRAP's primary objective is to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of everyday life. We look forward to a world in which people of all abilities are treated with respect and dignity and are free to fully engage in the world around them.
The Rhythmic Arts Project empowers people with various disabilities to succeed in the world. The program integrates drums and percussion instruments as creative learning tools that address life skills and enhance the mind, body & spirit.
The TRAP model is becoming more recognized for its potential to augment healing therapies for a variety of cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. Through rhythmic exercises, the program teaches and enhances basic life skills, such as: maintaining focus; using memory; socialization; turn taking; developing leadership; recognition and use of numbers, shapes, and colors, spatial awareness, fine and gross motor coordination; following instructions; and communication. Group teaching occurs in an environment that is supportive, cooperative, and fun.
As an innovative, alternative method to conventional healing and teaching, the TRAP program has excelled in every population. From rehabilitation hospitals to basic life skills in the field of developmental disabilities to typical preschools, inclusive settings, and in special education, this program is a winner.
