The TRAP (The Rhythmic Arts Project) is an organization dedicated to enhancing therapeutic methods by integrating drums and percussion lessons into proven methods of physical and psychological healing in school settings, for folks working with kids at risk, in the hospital rehabilitation program population including stroke, paralysis, and traumatic brain injury as well as organizations that are striving to provide a better life for those with developmental disabilities.

TRAP's primary objective is to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of everyday life. We look forward to a world in which people of all abilities are treated with respect and dignity and are free to fully engage in the world around them.

The Rhythmic Arts Project empowers people with various disabilities to succeed in the world. The program integrates drums and percussion instruments as creative learning tools that address life skills and enhance the mind, body & spirit.

The TRAP model is becoming more recognized for its potential to augment healing therapies for a variety of cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. Through rhythmic exercises, the program teaches and enhances basic life skills, such as: maintaining focus; using memory; socialization; turn taking; developing leadership; recognition and use of numbers, shapes, and colors, spatial awareness, fine and gross motor coordination; following instructions; and communication. Group teaching occurs in an environment that is supportive, cooperative, and fun.

As an innovative, alternative method to conventional healing and teaching, the TRAP program has excelled in every population. From rehabilitation hospitals to basic life skills in the field of developmental disabilities to typical preschools, inclusive settings, and in special education, this program is a winner.
