  The idea of a bass guitar made from wood that has begun to decay might scare you away, but never fear, the wood is sound, and the sound is clear. The unique lines and figuring along this acoustic-electric, fretless bass is the result of the spalted maple that makes up the body. In nature, a fungus attacks the spalted maple, and as it begins to decay, natural, artistic designs are formed. Before the wood becomes too brittle for use, Ibanez designers save these natural wonders, and reshape them into these beautiful guitars. The sound quality you'll get is similar to other maple bodied basses, but the look is like nothing else.
